The coal industry faces the same dilemma as the oil industry, diminishing resources.
I saw a commercial on TV in support of the coal industry. In it a lady states that solar energy is not a viable alternative to the 24/7 energy needs that the world needs (The sun doesn’t shine at night). Coal serves that function she says. Then she goes on to state that the coal processing facilities of today are much cleaner and more efficient than those of 30 years ago.
As with any attempt at change we must first begin with small steps. If you have always been interested in solar generated electricity but don’t have any idea how it works then I would not suggest that you purchase a large photovoltaic array designed to power your entire house at first. I would recommend starting small with the Powerfilm series of solar chargers. The R series of thin film solar panels provides a great base on which you can spend very little money while learning exactly how a large array works.
